What causes chest tightness and breathing difficulty while walking in hot weather?

default
Posted on Fri, 29 Jul 2016
Question: The last thread is done, I have had a tight feeling in chest and inability to take a deep breathe, similar to walking out in humid weather. I would hope that this is the inflammation and I think that you can have anxiety from too much excitement since i woke this morning feeling good and being excited about it. I still have bad thoughts of lung disease so I am gonna have to watch and see the new meds take effect to get rid of the old thoughts.

The tightness in chest is airways inflamed and panic mediators. is that correct.

Forgive me if you have answered this before but did you say that the inflamed airways can make breathing problematic when climbing stairs and then more problematic when having to converse after the climb. Just came back up to my office and i had to climb the stairs, Have been on edge all morning, so I assume that the inflammation is causing it. You did say it will take some time to go down so I must be patient and relax my thoughts

Climbing stairs give you stress and anxiety and so you are symptomatic.

See, climbing stairs is not directly related to breathing difficulty.
Actually, climbing stairs gives you so much stress and anxiety that these, stress and anxiety, causes breathing difficulty.
And don't worry, I am always ready to answer as many times as you wish. I will be happy in doing this.
Please let me know
1. Is this breathing difficulty specific for office stairs or for all stairs?

I guess I have to say any stairs, It has become ingrained in my head that I will be out of breath when I reach the top. I am busy thinking anxious as I climb so I am when I reach top. Not sure of the reason but I assume its the anxiety. It started to be a problem when the high stress began worsening three years ago.

Was it now there before 3 years?

Was it with offices with stairs only at that time?

Three years ago it suddenly became a problem almost overnight. Before that it was only on long flights of stairs that it would be an issue, that began in 1998. When it began, I assumed that it was due to the smoking i did. In hindsight, i can say I was under high anxiety with the pressures of College and all the running I was doing. If my pfts show no problems, I have to assume its a chance of inflammation back then. I do not know but big stairways all ways do a SOB on me.

Yes it happens when on the phone, whether walking up stairs or just walking, also bothered by walking and talking. I run out of breath when doing those things.
I seem to have an area in the pit of my throat that feels raw or burning as if I had been running and had that burning throat feeling. And the effort to speak over it requires more effort and breath. Then i feel SOB This idea is why i started taking the medicine for reflux again just incase

As we speak of this, my mind is running in panic mode and releasing the mediators and I feel like i will run out of breath. I better rest over lunch

Before this thread is shut down by HCM, I thought I would pass this along.

In 2001, I had my first PFT. the Pulmonologist at that time has moved on to end stage care. I came to her complaining of SOB, she told me in a very direct comment that I was very anxious. To Prove it she made me go to a stairway in the dr office building and had me go up and down the stairs a few times. Then had to prove to me that i was only anxious and out of shape.

I also remember just three years ago as I was cleaning out my moms house that I was going up and down the stairs to move things out over and over and only was a little winded. I think that I am more anxious than out of shape but need fitness too.

No I need to adjust to the diet again also. I do not eat big meals, I avoid eating two hours before bed. but I have some spicy foods that I need to stop taking. I bet that would help the throat from getting reflux on it. Unforntunately I cant raise the bed so I need to figure a new way to lift my head up.

I am having a bad morning and not sure why, I woke at 1:30 and fell back asleep at 2:30 Woke back up at 5. The hour I was awake, my mind wandered in bad thoughts. These thoughts and a few others you will have to explain more for my understanding.

My Upper chest expands very little as I try to take a good breath of air. I end up taking a breathe from my lower lungs. It only expands so much. Why does my upper lung act as if it has Centriacinar Emphysema. Is there so much panic and so much inflammation that it will not expand for me as it should

My PFT says I get good air volume but what I sense to be getting in is hard to describe but I would say that I once could count to 11-15 seconds now I'm getting only say 5 seconds at most. If the RV on a PFT is a signal of Air trapping, it is only 103 so in my opinion, that is nothing to concern about.

I need support and explanation to understand and get through this Panic event. I thank you for your understanding to my asking and re-asking of some questions. I have noticed that each day, I seem to feel a bit worse than the day before. I want to believe that my worries are causing this but I need to know what in my body physiology is causing the sensations.

It makes my Generalized anxiety disorder kick in and fret about life expectancy. Not so much that I will die, I will someday, but to decline in health too much before I can move back up north and enjoy time with my family.

It is very uncomfortable breathing right now. IT IS FUNNY TO SAY THAT AFTER YOU EXPLAIN, I SEEM TO RELAX ENOUGH TO BREATH AND STOP THE WORRY AND HAVE A GOOD DAY. Why is that.

HELP TODAY

This thread may end soon, hope I have another still other wise I'll have to open other account

I am on the seventh sky.
Thanks for your kind words.
Well, I think you are having faith in me so my words, our talks, discussion make you relax.
I think you should carry same faith in you, your psychiatrist and me also. Ha ha.
Well explanation is as simple as that.
More you stressed, more you release mediators and more inflammation in your lungs.
You are feeling more in upper chest is just only your perception. I don't have any reason for this.
Sorry for this.
And I think I should live with you so that you remain relaxed.
What do you say?
I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.

You can Live here, but you have to bring wife, She has to take care of you. Oh, nothing wrong with the one you have posted but a New picture on HCM might be eaisier to see. The one you have is a bit hard to see.

SO, back to last question.

The upper lung and lower lung affected equally with inflammation. But for some reason, i can breath easier using the lower lung, or I am forcing the easier area to do the work. I hope that makes sense.

You know I mentioned that Centriacinar Emphysema in last question. That would take a good amount of time to get to the point of non working in that area and would reflect in PFT would It not. That point of no expansion would show hyperinflation and increased TLC--Yes?? and higher RV--Yes??? my TLC is 114-117 and RV 103 so its not there. is my thinking correct.

Yes you can be of XXXXXXX in your answers
