What Causes Chest Pain During Periods?

default
Posted on Thu, 19 May 2016
Question: Hi there, I am having terrible chest pain. It's been happening the past couple months during/right after my menstrual cycle. It takes my breath away to the point where I slow my breathing and I have to hold my chest until the pain goes away. It happens frequently and it's almost like an 'attack' that goes for 10 seconds and then there is relief but it consistently happens for days around my menstrual cycle. I know this is not 'normal' because it's absolutely terrible and prevents me from doing much of anything physical for days.

Brief Answer:
Your symptoms could be due to PMDD.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear,
Thanks for trusting hcm about your health care.
I have gone through your symptoms and understand your concerns.
These symptoms are most likely due to PMDD( premenstrual dystrophic disorder) or premenstrual syndrome.
As you are having such a long lasting chest pain,it is better to rule out anginal pain, before going for this diagnosis.
So get your ECG and blood test done.
Cause of this is due to hormonal imbalance.
Hope you found this useful. Feel free to discuss more information.
Good luck.
Regards
