What Causes Chest Pain And Dry Cough While On Ramipril?

default
Posted on Mon, 31 Jul 2017
Question: Hi, I have been taking 5mg Ramipril for a few months now, over the last couple of weeks I have been getting chest pains in the morning and with difficulty turning over in bed. My chest feels if there is pressure on it, making it difficult to breath normally. If I force myself up and walk I find all pains disappear! I also get tiredness and a constant dry cough. Should I stop and change medication?

Many Thanks

Brief Answer:
Yes it needs to be changed

Detailed Answer:
Hello Sir

After going through the medical details provided by you I understand your concern and I would like to tell you that dry cough and Chest discomfort with dizziness are known side effects that happens in some patients taking ramipril.

If these are bothering you then Ramipril needs to be discontinued and substituted with some other medicine.

I hope this information will be helpful.

Kind regards
Dr Bhanu partap
