Hello

My name is Dr Muhammad Ali Rauf & i will look into your problem.

I have gone through your query and will help you in leading to a conclusion. You mentioned that you are taking ciprofloxacin for kidney infection and having chest discomfort. There are minor side effects for stomach. I would be in a better position to guide you if you answer following questions regarding the discomfort:
1. Is discomfort in the form of pain or burning sensation?
2. Does it occur after taking medicine?
3. Any association of discomfort with food?
4. Does discomfort occur only in chest region or in stomach region as well?
5. Any past history of illness?
6. Any family history of chronic illness, heart disease or cancer?
7. Do you smoke or drink?
8. Are you on any kind of medication other than cipro?

I will be looking forward for the answers to conclude the discussion in the best interest of yours.
Thank You

I started experiencing the chest discomfort after two hours of taking the first dose. But it goes away, and it feels more like gas. No heart illness, no cancer, it does occur while taking it. Its not painful but it causes discomfort that makes me anxious. I do suffer from anxiety. Not on meds execpt xanax at night when I cant sleep. So having the kidney infection and beimg on cipro has caused some anxiety. Still feel naseous and my back is still sore. Thx

Brief Answer:
Stress Induced

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Thank You for getting back with the answers. I have gone through them and concluded that this symptom is most probably stress induced. I would suggest you not to worry as you are taking medication and your kidney problem will heal soon. During stress there is increased release of stomach acid which causes discomfort sensation in stomach region as well as in chest. I would suggest you following things for quick & healthy recovery:
> Take sucralfate suspension twice a day for 5 days
> Take tablet with lighter meal instead of empty stomach.
> Take domeridone whenever you feel nausea. It will increase stomach motility & reduce the discomfort.
> Go out for a walk in the evening. It will keep you fresh, healthy & will remove the stress.

AVOID:
> Fatty food
> Drinks
> heavy meal at night

Hope I have answered your query. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help if not then don't forget to close the discussion and rate it.
Wishing you good health !!

Brief Answer:
5-7 days

Detailed Answer:
Hello

I am glad that you have a query. In most cases bacterial infection takes 5-7 days to heal. In some cases it may prolong as well. You should comply by the advise given by your treating doctor and take medication regularly. You are feeling weak because of illness & medication. You will gradually regain the strength as soon as the infection gets cured. Meanwhile take adequate fluids (water, fresh juices). For backache i would suggest following things:
> take acetaminophen twice a day
> take hot water in a rubber bottle and place it at the site of pain. It will give soothing effect.

Hope I have answered your query. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help if not then don't forget to close the discussion and rate it. Feel free to contact me directly on HCM by visiting http://goo.gl/fxj9bG in future.
