What Causes Changes In Bowel Activity?

default
Posted on Mon, 10 Aug 2015
Question: Within the last 10 days my bowel activity as changed dramatically. I have always had regular bowel movements of normal size and length. Occasionally I have had constipation, but never lasting very long. When it started changing, the size was the first thing I noticed. Half of the width and even though I could go it took longer to completely finish. As things have progressed, I am taking a stool softener and liquids to help, but it appears to me that something is partially blocking the pathway. Furthermore, when I go, I am never feeling pressure in the annul area, even if I strain trying, I'm just not feeling like I've got to go. I am worried about some sort of blockage...what do you think? I am not in pain either. don't feel bad, but just can't ever feel like I need to go like I used to.

Brief Answer:
Colonoscopy has to be done.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.

Thank you for the query.

At your age (over 50) stool pattern change can be a sign of some lump in large intestine indeed. It can be a polyp or even something more serious.
That is why Colonoscopy is the first thing you should have done.
You feel it right like a kind of obstacle on the stool passage. This is possible.

So please do not wait and have colonoscopy done as soon as possible.

Hope this will help. Feel free to ask further questions.

Regards.
