What Causes Calf Muscle Pain When Diagnosed With Strep Infection?

default
Posted on Thu, 2 Jun 2016
Question: My son was diagnosed with Strep on Monday, now Wednesday, he has pain in his calves all day. Seems like it gets better as he moves, but then returns. He no longer has a fever and he has had growing pains before, but this seems different. He's in a happy mood, not feeling bad otherwise. Could it be two different things or more likely it is related?

Brief Answer:
it is related to streptococcal infection

Detailed Answer:
hi,
Welcome to this forum.
Can understand your concerns.

Pain in calf muscle is related to streptococcal infection.
It is seen most of the times that when there is infection in body in children, they usually develop vasculitis in lower Limbs.
This pain in legs persists for two to three days and it settles as the condition of child improves.
It is advisable to give adequate rest to child and give enough fluid to child to prevent dehydration.
For pain, you can give Ibuprofen syrup 3 times a day for 2 days.

I hope this will help you.
Wishing your child could help.
Take care.
