Detailed Answer:
Hello.

Welcome to Healthcare Magic.

I read carefully your query and I am sorry that your friend is going through this.

The burning sensation in her chest can be related to acid relfux.Since she is taking Zantac (Ranitidine ) and it isn't working ,she may need to add another drug in therapy like Omeprazole (PPI) 20 mg orally once a day before breakfast. She can take Omeprazole in the morning and Ranitidine at bedtime for 2 weeks.
If her symptoms doesn't seem to improve ,she need to consult her doctor for proper evaluation.

Hope it helps.
Please feel free to ask for every question you might have.

Kind regards,
