Brief Answer:
It can be an erosion or variceal bleed.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

The bleeding is probably from a gastric erosion/ulcer induced by alcohol or may be a variceal bleed if you consume alcohol often. It should be treated as an emergency if the bleeding is significant or if you feel clammy or dizzy. You should go to an ER and have a proper assessment.
I am available if you have any further query.

Brief Answer:
If possible have an endoscopy done for diagnosis.

Detailed Answer:
Welcome back.
I am glad that you are better. So it is not a major bleed.
However it is good to have an upper gastrointestinal endoscopy done to know the exact cause. Also it would be possible to diagnose whether you have an ulcer producing bacteria called H. Pylori. If it is present, it has to be eradicated.
If you are not able to get an endoscopy done, a second choice would be a Barium meal study which is less informative than an endoscopy. Urea breath test is a non invasive way of diagnosing if there is an H.Pylori infection.
If these are not possible then one may think of symptomatic treatment with a proton pump inhibitor.
Please feel free to ask if you have more queries.
Best wishes,
Dr. Noble Zachariah
