What Causes Burning Sensation In Nose After Treating Gastritis And Oesophagitis?

default
Posted on Fri, 22 Jan 2016
Question: I have a burning sensation in my nose when I bend and look down. The burning goes off once I look straight. The burning is so intense that if I bend for more than a minute, my eyes start watering.

I'm having this problem for the last couple of months. I suspect that this happened after I inhaled too much of Harpic when I cleaned my bathroom. Because after that day, I can hardly feel the smell of Harpic.

I have had gastritis and oesophagitis in the past and have acidity problem now and then. I get head aches when I have a indigestion or eat too much. A doctor (6 months back) said my OG junction is weak.

Brief Answer:
Sinusitis can be the cause.

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Thank you for asking HCM

I have gone through your query. Your problem can be due to sinusitis. It can be chemical induced or allergic as you had history of harpic inhalation. Examination by ENT specialist wil be helpful to rule out this.
Taking antihistamines like cetirizine and local nasal decongestant spray like xylometazoline (otrivin) will be helpful for this. Corticosteroid nasal sprays will be required if no improvement.
Laryngopharyngeal reflux (gastroesophageal reflux) can worsen this condition. Taking Proton pump inhibitors like Esomeprazole (Nexium) which is over the counter available one or prescription ones like rabeprazole for long term will be helpful for that. Take light meals like short intervals.

Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear.
Thanks.
