Question: I was working out (squatting normal weight, not) and at the bottom of my rep, i felt a burning sensation along my lower right abdomen (running along my V line, about 2-3 in long). I saw a PA today, and she said it is a strained groin. My main concern is that i have noticed that my right testicle has retracted up nearer to the base of by penis. It is almost as if it is being constantly suspended giving me a weird sensation throughout the day. I would like to know if this is a permanent situation or if it will eventually return to normal? In addition, does this make me more susceptible to sustaining hernias in the future or groin-related injuries?

Brief Answer:
There is no risk for hernias in future because of this!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about this strain that you sustained. I will recommend that you do exercises in moderation so as to avoid future strains. These exercises actually strengthen the muscles in the groin and rather makes hernia less likely. The change in the position of the testes is probably as a reflex action provoked by the pain. As the pain subsides, this will return to normal.

In all, exercise in moderation. There is no greater risk of hernia or injuries in future.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Thanks for using our services and feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.

Is there a general timeline of how long this feeling will continue? Just to reiterate, there is almost no pain, but in total layman's terms, my balls arent hanging as low as they were before this happened.

Brief Answer:
This is transient..no hard timelines!

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I know this will return to normal but there is no hard timeline for this. I will say, monitor only for now and do not get too worried by it.

I wish you well.

Could it possibly be varicoceles?

Brief Answer:
No!

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

This is not a varicocele. Varicocele present with enlarged testicles which feel like a bag of worms. It increases in size with upright position and decreases with lying flat. This is no varicocele.

I hope this helps. I wish you well.

I am a 55 year old female with no known heart prblems other than mild mitral valve prolapse and IBS . For at least 3 or 4 years I have noticed a smooth swelling or rise jsut below the left breast bone, around top of the rib cage area. No history of injuries to the area. On one or two occasions I have had severe pain in that area, almost like a nerve pain; bad enough to create breathing difficulty. With reast, it goes away. I also have regular reoccurence of chronic burping (harder than burps) and swelling in the upper abdomen, along with frequent heartburn . This conditoin may last a few hours or a few days. On occassion, I get accompanying back pain and shortness of breath that is relieved by lying on my right side. During these flareups, they are aggravatged and occur almost immediately after eating. Could all this be caused by a hernia or some form of prolapse? (A few years ago I believe I suffred a pelvic and/or abdominal prolapse after extensive exercise, after I had not exercised for several years). Thanks for your input.

i dont have any bowel movement on my own. this has happened now for at least 3 weeks. i have been to the hospital 3 times. i have to use magnesium citrate to have any kind of bowel movement. sopositories, and stool softners dont seem to work. i have severe pain in lower stomach and upper. they have did a cat scan and just said i have a blockage. i have a bulge on the right lower side and doctors though it was a hernia . the bulge is where there is a dip in my skin above the pelvic bone right beside my lymph nodes. my lymph nodes are also swollen right beside that bulge. there are about 5 lymph nodes that i feel and 2 in my stomach. i then wnt to the specialist and he examined me and said it wasnt a hernia. now i have to wait 3 months before a colonostophy. do you have any advice untill october? and what might it be?
