Brief Answer:
Topical Estrogen should be used.

Detailed Answer:
Hi, I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.

Pain and burning of vagina during sexual activity is mostly related to lack of Estrogen ( a hormone needed for vaginal moisturizing too).

In this condition, over-the-counter moisturizers don't help too much.

You can try vaginal Estrogen therapy wich can be done in different ways:
1. Vaginal estrogen cream
2. Vaginal estrogen ring

Since this is a prescription drug, you should discuss with a Gynecologyst about treatment dosages and how often to insert it.

Vaginal Estrogen cream ( Premarin eg.) is used usually once daily, vaginal Estrogen cream ring is inserted by a Gynecologyst and changed once in three months.

Hope this answers your question.

She has had burning painful sex within her vaginal cavity since she was a teenager, for many years, prior to the hysterectomy. I will look into topical estrogen, but is there an answer for her burning painful condition prior to menopause/hysterectomy??

Brief Answer:
Causes of vaginal pain during sex could be several.

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks for asking back.

Causes of vaginal pain and burning during sex at young ages could be several, ranging from psychological causes to anatomical and structural problems.

The exact cause is defined after careful clinical evaluation and examination.

One of the most probable causes is insufficient lubrication of vagina.

Menopause/hysterectomy worsen this condition by lowering Estrogen levels, so it is expected that Estrogen treatment will improve is some degree the symptoms.

If you don't have any clarifications, you can close the conversation and rate the answer.

Wishing both of you good health and normal sexual life.
