I've have a white film in the back of my throat.it doesn't hurt....I've recently been gargling with hot water apple cider vinegar and salt..then the tip of my tongue tingles and the dots become redder...please someone help??i don't know what this could be or what is going on..I'm also under a lot of stress and anxiety and I don't know if that can be apart of the burning tongue??please answers!!!

Brief Answer:
Possible causes for your symptoms.

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX

What you are describing could be a few things.

An irritated, burning sensation of the tongue, with redness, can be from acid reflux. Acid reflux can be silent and people may not know that it is happening. And stress can increase reflux in some people. If you think this applies to you, consider taking an acid reducer (ranitidine/Zantac is a safe one to start with - 150 mg). And for now, avoid acidy foods, citrus, very spicy foods and have caffeine only in moderation.

It's possible to have a yeast infection in the mouth. The symptoms of this can be an irritated feeling tongue and white patches. Not so much a white film but patches. Treatment is an anticandidal medicine (by prescription) that you swish and then swallow. If there is thrush, avoid sugar and alcohol as these can make it worse for some people.

Some upper respiratory viruses can cause a coating on the back of the tongue (from post nasal drainage) and some soreness in the mouth too.

While apple cider vinegar is a healthy thing, it might be irritating right now and you might want to hold off until you can get your mouth looked at if the symptoms are annoying enough.

I hope this information helps. Please let me know if I can provide further information or clarification.
