What Causes Burning And Peeling Of Facial Skin?

default
Posted on Thu, 7 Apr 2016
Question: I have burning, peeling skin on my face. It is patchy. Both sides of forehead, eye socket, lips, sides of mouth. I have had milder forms of this over 18 months, since an unknown insect bite that was quite nasty.
This week it has been very severe, I did go to emergency and was dismissed with Stress as my diagnosis, with no effort by the Dr to ask questions etc. I gain some relief by smoothing a high quality olive oil on my skin.

Brief Answer:
Few causes listed below

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for being at healthcaremagic
I have gone through your complaints.
Burning and peeling of the skin can be due many causes.
It can be due to contact dermatitis to anything you are using on your face or scalp.
It can be due to sensitivity to the sun.
It can be due to reaction to any medicine you are taking.
You need to figure out the cause.
Meanwhile avoid applying any cosmetic on your face and avoid direct sun exposure.
In such cases I recommend my patients to use moisturising cream frequently and liberally along with application of cortisone cream on the affected areas twice daily for 7-10 days.
For burning I recommend them to take antihistaminics like tablet Chlorpheniramine 4 mg once or twice daily depending on the intensity of burning sensation.
I hope to have answered your query and would be happy to clarify any further doubts.
Regards
Dr Asmeet
