What Causes Bumps On Genital Area After Shaving?
Question: I shaved using an old razor about a week ago. Then 3-4 days after noticed a few bumps around my genital area. Then 2 days later get these like blister looking bumps that have since scabbed a litle. Ive been sexually active with the same person. We have been together for 4 years. Ive never had these bumps ever. I have no symptoms besides they are sore and uncomfortable.

Hello dear thanks for trusting health care magic.
This is folliculitis after infection of the hair follicles due to the use of razor and can occur even with fresh razor use (but obviously commoner in case of old razor )
You need to apply an antibiotic cream like T-Bact or muprocin on the affected area twice a day for 7 days.
Also take tablet lyser -D thrice a day for three days as it will help in relieving the inflammation and pain in that area along with early response to antibiotic cream.
But in case it increases in size or if there is no improvement (very less chances) visit a gynecologist for examination.

I was looking at general herpes and what it describes of the stages and very similar to what I experienced.
What's the difference between the two and how can I be sure it's not genital herpes. I am sexually active but with the same person. I'm just concerned. Thanks!

I understand your concerns dear, but genital herpes is always in the region of a single nerve distribution and not on both sides of the genitals and moreover it is excruciatingly painful so it is not herpes.
Apply cream and take the tablets as advised and you will be fine soon.

Im still a little concerned. This is what it looks like as of now tonight. Its starting to scab and dry up but burns very bad and is very uncomfortable.... Is that normal for folliculitis? I know this is one if the stages of genital herpes. Can you give me anymore information about this?

No dear, as I have told you this is not herpes because herpes spreads only in single nerve distribution area and thus never bilateral.
Also it needs some acute illness or stress before the eruption of vesicles and it is not a picture consistent with herpes.

What does that mean it spreads only in single nerve distribution area and never bilateral? Can you elaborate on this?
