What Causes Bumps In The Vagina And On Buttocks?

default
Posted on Mon, 14 Apr 2014
Question: It started with a bump on the side of my vagina it looked like an ingrown hair. The following day it went to another bump, and has now taken over the sides of the vagina and by my butt area. They look like canker sores. My husband and I get tested 3 times a year because our job (military) requires it. All tests have showed negative for any type of std. Could this be an allergic outbreak? I did take a new prescription Xanax for travel purposes could this have done it? Please help I feel it's getting worse!

Brief Answer: Antihistamine & Antibiotic with Herpes Testing Detailed Answer: Hi there. Yes you could be right & it could be a reaction to the Xanax you took & please stop the same & take an antihistamine like Telfast-180mg once daily for a 3-5 day period. However from your description, I strongly advise you to do a serum IgG & IGM for Herpes 1&2 as this may not be specifically tested for. It could also very well be a pseudofolliculitis from the ingrown hair that spread to contiguous neighbouring follicles. So you will do well to start a course of an antibiotic like azithromycin as a 1 gm single dose & this may require the prescription of your local GP. Do hope I have given you some direction & wish you good health & a clear skin at the earliest. Dr Praveen Rodrigues MD
