What Causes Bulging Spot On The Abdomen With A History Of AAA?

Question: Yes, my dad lives with me. He is almost 94 in pretty good health. He has had surgery a number of years ago for an abominal aortic aneurism (sp?).. He goes for regular check-ups. Where he had surgery, he has had a bulging spot (sort of large) for a long time and he has had a leak the doctors are aware of but don't plan to do anything at this time. Tonight, however, we noticed he seems to be getting another bulge. We checked his blood pressure. It is 149/64, a little high. He has no symptoms or pain. Worked outside, physically, more than normal, but nothing dangerous. Should I be concerned tonight or can I wait to call his doctor in the morning? XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
Please get an Ultrasound and Doppler done.

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX
Good to know you take good care of your Dad.
The information you provide suggests that he has undergone an EVAR or Endovadcular repair of his aneurysm. whic means there is no surgery through the abdomen and then they noticed an Endoleak.
With the information of a new bulge it could probably be nothing but the dreaded complication would be another site of leak which would need to be addressed as soon as possible.
Please go to the ER and atleast get an Ultrasound and Color Doppler done if not a CT Angiogram.
That is the protocol at our Vascular Surgery Center where I work.
Take care and let me know if there are any other queries.
