What Causes Bruising Over The Bridge Of The Nose And Bleeding After Injury?
Question: Hello our 15 month old boy fell and now has a red line over the bridge of his nose like where a pair of glasses would sit, and under his nostril is a little split. We would spare no expense to have hi seen by the most qualified doctor. thanks XXXXXXX would it make sense to take him to our back water hospital right now? Or find a specialist to look at him tomorrow?

Looking at the information given by you ,it looks like Mild Nasal injury causing mild soft tissue trauma over the nose causing red line(Bruise) over the bridge of nose and little bleeding.

Under his nostrils there is a minor split that looks like the result from his nose bending upward (the split is parallel with his lips) it is mild.

(3) He cried like I have not heard before right after the injury and then it subsided after ten minutes.

(5) When we tried to touch his nose it was very sensitive and he would not let us touch it.
It seems bruised and swollen and his nasal breathing seems stuffed up.

It seems to be mild soft tissue injury of nose.
For the minor split inside the nostril,it would heal on its own within 5-7 days.
I would advise you to have an X ray lateral view to look for nasal bone fracture.
In cases with minor fracture without dislocation of bones,no surgery is needed.Just to take care for a few days that, your child may not suffer any kind of trauma at the same place.
If the nasal bone fragments are dislocated due to fracture,then surgery might be needed by an ENT specialist.
For the swelling over the nose,you may continue giving him Acetaminophen.
For the stuffiness inside the nose(which might have occurred due to congestion in the nose due to falling down),you may use saline nasal drops.
So,it would be advisable to consult an ENT specialist and have an X ray Nasal bone lateral view.
Please don't worry as it does not seems much serious.Consulting an ENT doctor and X ray is to rule out a fracture.You may consult the doctor in a day or two.
