What Causes Brownish Purplish Spots On The Body?

Posted on Sat, 11 Nov 2017
Question: Hi, i have had these 4 spots since roughly 4 weeks ago (at least when i noticed them). At the time they were purple-ish and now theyre a light brown ish colour. I have noticed that my side looks more veinier than normal with what looks like a purple veinish look in a spot. Should these be something i need to worry about or can it just be vitamin deficiency?

Brief Answer:
I suggest oral vitamin C supplement

Detailed Answer:
Hello. Thank you for writing to us.

I am D. kakkar(Dermatologist and Venereologist). I have noted your concern.

Perhaps those brownish marks are just color changes in resolving bruises (initially purplish when fresh). You have prominent superficial veins but that is just a normal variation. As far as those resolving bruise marks are concerned I think the superficial veins must have got traumatised and leaked blood in the skin resulting in those bruise marks. This easy bruisability can be due to Vitamin C deficiency. Therefore I suggest oral Vitamin C once a day for a few weeks.

Regards
