Brief Answer:
Symptoms are due to Prostatitis .

Detailed Answer:

Hello
Thanks for your query ,based on the facts and symptoms that you have posted it appears that you have infection of the Prostate (Prostatitis).

Please consult qualified Urologist for clinical and digital rectal examination and get following basic tests done to confirm the diagnosis.
1) Urine routine and culture.
2) Ultrasound scanning of abdomen and pelvis
3) Serum PSA.
4) Semen examination and semen culture .

In the mean while start taking broad spectrum antibiotic like Cefixime along with anti inflammatory drug like Diclofenac twice daily later on switch on to appropriate antibiotic as per culture reports ...

Further treatment will depend upon result of these tests and final diagnosis.

Please note that prostatitis takes long time to get cured hence one has to take appropriate antibiotics for 4-6 weeks .

Hope I have answered your query ,please feel free to ask if you have more questions ,I shall be happy to help you
Thanks and Regards.

thank you for your help. I received a prescription for 4 week supple of Bactrim today. I was told prostatitis is not common in men my age (34) and that it was more likely an STI. I had an STI check done earlier this week with no results back yet just to be sure, however I don't feel like I have any symptoms relating to an STI. is this the more likely cause or an infection from an unknown cause?
