Question: Dear Doctor,

I have been in touch with few doctors regarding health issues that I'm facing from past 5 years. It started from symptoms like difficult to breathe, running nose, frequent cold, tonsills, throat infections, full body weakness, muscle weakness, severe muscle pains after excercise, muscle cramps & shoulder join pains, after 3 years now I'm facing severe issues with digestion problems like burning sensation in stomach, arms & foot, along with this my backbone has become sensitive it started paining alot.

From past few months I frequently see food particles in my stool, after consulting a doctor he had told me that my body is not observing necessary vitamins & given medications but it didn't work. Later I approached Homeopathy doctor, he has mentioned that its happening because of depression & stress levels in my life.

Yes few years back I used to fear for everything because of lack of self confidence I used to get suicidal thoughts, but not I'm completely alright but my symptoms have not gone & its increasing day by day.

Kindly let me know the problem for all these issues....

Brief Answer:
Consultation

Detailed Answer:
Hello, and thanks for your question.

First, let me address the medical symptoms. The varieties of pain and weakness you describe might be due to an inflammatory process. I would start with some basic bloodwork:

CBC
CMP
ESR
CRP
Rheumatoid Factor

If these are negative, then it may be that many of these symptoms, including the GI symptoms, may be related to somatic symptoms of anxiety. You also have some signs of depression, including lack of self confidence. I think the best thing to address your pain, weakness, stomach issues, anxiety, and depressed mood is an SNRI antidepressant, which has proven very useful in treating all of these things in large scale clinical trials. I would suggest starting with venlafaxine.
