What Causes Breakthrough Bleeding After Taking Sprintec?
Question: I was put on Sprintec in July and am now into my fourth pack. I am experiencing breakthrough bleeding akin to a very light period about every 2 weeks. I have Endometriosis and Hashimotos autoimmune disease. Do I need to find a pill with more estrogen or more progestin/progesterone to make this bleeding stop?

Sprintec is a oral contraceptive pill which has the common side effect of spotting and break through bleeding.This problem usually persists for the first few months after starting the drug.
The spotting and break through bleeding usually resolves after 6-8 months of usage.
I will suggest you to continue this drug as advised for next 2-3 months.
If the problem is not resolved even then, then you may switch over to higher dose of hormones.

My only concern with that is that I am anemic and too much bleeding caused me alot of trouble when I bled heavy for two weeks prior to the cyst bursting. I'm already on my 4th cycle of this drug. Isn't this a legitimate observation period that this pill may not be the best fit?
