Posted on Mon, 19 May 2014
Question: I had stage one breast cancer two years ago. I had two lumpectomies in rt breast for two different types of cancer. Both tumors were very small. I did both chemo and radiation. 4 chemo treatments/3 weeks apart. I think I had 6 weeks of Rad. Here is my question. My body is soooo aching. Mostly on the right side.....My hip, chin, shoulder. I have knots in my muscles that I can feel. PT does help but it always comes back. I am taking Aromatase 1/day. what are your thoughts?

Brief Answer:
Have you discussed this with your oncologist?

Detailed Answer:
There are aome medications which can contribute to skeletal pain. you did not list your medications other than aromatase. Unfortunately, aromatase is one of the medications that can contribute to the problem. Another is statins which decrease cholesterol.
Radiation can have longterm effects. was the radiation on the same side as your pain. If so it may be appropriate to be evicted by a neurologist for nerve damage that in turn induces muscle spasm.
Your oncologist can guide you.He or she can tell you the risks of stopping aromatase atleast to see if it is the problem. There are alternatives including tamoxifen. he or she can suggest a neurologist.
It might also be an unrelated nerve problem which the neurologist may be able to identify. I hope these ideas give you a place to start and that you feel better soon.
