default
Posted on Thu, 7 Jan 2016
Question: I am experiencing left eye blur and left eye aniscoria , no noticeable pytosis in either eye. Resolves somewhat but not completely when both eyes are open. Resolves completely when left eye is closed. Pupils are unequal but both reactive to light. Ophthalmic exam revealed nothing. MRA of brain 9 months ago was negative. Slight headache above left eye but mainly comes on later in the day with eye strain. 2.50 readers help somewhat.

Brief Answer:
Seems to be due to presbyopia

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic. I have very carefully gone through the provided description and have checked the attached images. Anisocoria means inequality of the size of pupils. Usually it occurs due to neurological cause although normal or physiological anisocoria can be seen in 20% people. I have checked the attached images but do not see a significant difference in the size of pupils (slight difference is normal). Rather your complaints seem to be due to a phyenomenon called presbyopia where the accomodation power of the lens reduces with age and the pupils may dilate to allow more light in. But even then blurrieness may persist.

I would insist you not to panic. If there were any significant problems, the ophthalmologist should have found out. If still apprehensive, you would need to visit a neurologist but I doubt if that would be essential.

Regards
