What Causes Blood In Urine?
Asymptomatic microscopic haematuria should be evalauted further.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome to HCM.
I have read your question and understand your concerns.
So, you are having asymptomatic microscopic haematuria (blood in urine report) which can be found actually in multiple conditions.
Usually this type of haematuria is found in primary kidney or urinary tract pathology but it is not always necessary.
Also let know if you have any other symptoms apart from this haematuria?
Therefore,if I were your treating doctor then I will advice,
1. You need to do complete work to find out where is the cause of haematuria.
Ask your doctor for following investigations-
i) Urine culture and routine Microscopic (to see if any infection is there).
ii) Sonography of both kidneys and pelvic area to rule out any tumour or stone if you had undergone ultrasound before 1 year.
iii) You might require cystoscopy (endoscopy of urinary bladder) if no cause will be found from above investigations.
iv) Lastly to know about kidney functions your doctor may advice you intravenous pyelography (it's a procedure to understand how the kidneys are functioning).
Serum kidney function tests should also be checked.
2. Please also mentioned to your doctor whether you are taking any pain killers or blood thinners for a long time as they may also cause haematuria.
So,until we find the cause of hematuria nothing much can be said, but usually it's a benign condition and subsides when the cause will also be cured.
It's better to be concerned always but not to worry.
Meanwhile, ensure to drink more water to keep your urine dilute which will help to control hematuria.
Urine alkaliser like liquid citralka can also be taken with water, if you experience burning urination.
Hope this will help you.Let me know if you need more clarifications.

Hematuria should be co-related with clinical symptoms.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for the reply.
Your son had blood in his urine report last week but here it is also important to co-relate it with clinical symptoms.
Is your son having any urinary symptoms? or he was tested urinalysis routinely.
However, occasional hematuria could occur when you took food like beets or blackberry or the person who takes drugs like rifampin or pyrazinamide etc and it subsides automatically after the withdrawal of that.
If It has come once or twice without any reason or clinical symptoms then there is no need of any investigation further and it get subsides by itself.
But if hematuria persists on repeat urine testing then it must be evaluated further to rule out urinary causes one by one as i discussed earlier.
