Question: Hi -
I've been experiencing blood in my stool since 1 yr and it is not frequent. Whenever, my stool is hard, then i see blood in the stool. I've tried with homeopathy medicine for 3 months last year, and it was good during this time. Since 1 week, I'm experiencing this issue once again. Would you please let me what could be the symtoms? or tests that i should get done? Please note that i see blood whenever my stool is hard.

Brief Answer:
Considerations

Detailed Answer:
hello and thank you for sending the question.

This is a very good question and I can appreciate that you're dealing with symptoms which are concerning and at this point I have a few thoughts.

The most common cause of symptoms such as those what you describe is hemorrhoids.hemorrhoids are swollen blood vessels which can sometimes ooze bloodparticularly with constipation or hard stool.

Sometimes hemorrhoids can be palpated and feel almost like a small lumps. If hemorrhoids are internal you might not be able to feel them.

Since you have had this problem for going on one year I think it would be very important for you to visit with your primary care doctor.

Your doctor can perform a focused consultation and physical examination to determine if you have hemorrhoids or if there something else going on.

Usually we recommend that people increase the amount of fiber in their diet and drink enough fluids on a daily basis to keep stool soft and avoid constipation.

If your doctor thinks you need further investigation he might refer you to a gastroenterologist to connect to look inside your: to make sure there's nothing else that might be contributing to the bleeding you ever experienced.

Thanks again for sharing your healthcare concerns. Again please touch base with your doctor for a consultation.

Sincerely,

Dr. Galamaga
