What Causes Blood In Semen?

default
Posted on Wed, 11 Jan 2017
Question: My husband, 58, has occasionally, once every few months, had some blood in his semen. A week ago the semen was normal, yesterday it appeared to have about 25% bright red in it. Is it something to be concerned about?

Brief Answer:
I will like to see his semen analysed!

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I suggest that you get the semen analysed. This way, we can tell what the exact composition of the semen is and what the blood in it is all about. Blood in semen could be caused by excessive sexual activity or masturbation, an infection, a prostate disease, etc. However, I will want to think that excessive sexual activity is probably the cause. This will be confirmed by the absence of no other findings suggestive of an infection.

In all, probably linked to excessive sexual activity. Semen analysis would help with this.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Keep me posted on this.
