Brief Answer:
catheter should be changed

Detailed Answer:
Hi and welcome to HCM.

When clots, blood or pain occur then urinary catheter should be changed or washed out by urologist. It may indicate bladder injury, uroinfection or kidney stones. He should drink more fluids to promote urination, drink raspberry tea and avoid manipulation with the catheter. If blood clots persist,he should do cystoscopy.
Wish you good health. Regards
