Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for your query.

1. Since your CT Scan shows no damage to the temporal bone, there is no active treatment required for the blood clot.

2. Is it possible for you to upload the CT images or the report? It is not clear whether the clot is in the ear canal or behind the ear drum.

3. Do you have any clinical examination notes of the ear drum?

I hope that I have answered your query. If you have any further questions, I will be available to answer them.

Regards.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for writing back.

1. A blood clot behind the ear drum is seen as a bluish-purple discoloration known as a Hemotympanum.

2. If there are no symptoms including mild hearing loss, mild dizziness, tolerable pain, facial weakness or a CSF (Cerebro-Spinal Fluid) leak, no active treatment is required.

3. Simple pain and dizziness medication may be used. the clot will get absorbed on it's own over the next few weeks.

4. If the symptoms are severe, a simple procedure known as a Myringotomy may be done to suck out the clot.

I hope that I have answered your query. If you have any further questions, I will be available to answer them.

Regards.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for writing back.

1. Most of the blood clots in the ear are left undisturbed as they form a sterile seal. Even if the blood clot is in the external ear canal, it is not removed. Ear drops are not recommended. These measures avoid unnecessary handling and infection.

2. You should request your physician for medication for the headache.

I hope that I have answered your query. If you have any further questions, I will be available to answer them.

Regards.
