Posted on Thu, 20 Apr 2017
Question: I recently had back surgery on 3/17/17. I was given hydrocodone-acetaminophen 5-325. I have not taken any of these pills since returning home on 3/18/17. My ears are stopped up and I am afraid that I might be losing my hearing. a couple of years I was given diclofenac and did lose some hearing to the extent that I needed hearing aides. Is hearing lose a side effect of hydrocodone-acetaminophen?

Brief Answer:
may be Presbycusis

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to HealthcareMagic and thanks for putting up the query,

Ma'am the medicines you have mentioned don't have any documented side effect of hearing loss.
Probably your hearing loss is age-related(Presbycusis). Age-related hearing loss can be progressive and might need a hearing aid calibration after some time.

My advice is you should get an audiometry done and get your hearing aid recalibrated accordingly.

Secondly, weak batteries in the hearing aid can be a cause for inability to hear with aids in. So please check them too.

Any further questions are always welcome.
Take care
Thanks and regards
