What Causes Blockage Of Ears?
Question: My right and left ears are blocked and when i travel and about to land my ear is blocked. What is the treatment for this. As i am travelling again in 11 days.
Thank you for the answer, Can i use Otolin ( Chloramphenicol, Polymyxin, B, Sulpahte, Benzocaine, Nipagin) in my ear.

The pain in the ear during air travel is due to unequal pressure between inside of the ear and outside. The ear drops you mentioned contain antibiotic used in infection of the ears. So don't use those ear drops.
Usually a tube which connects our inside ear with back of nose opens intermittently during swallowing or yawning and maintains the pressure balance.
But when you travel in aeroplane the air pressure around you changes quickly and results in unequal pressure between inside and outside of ear. This puts pressure on eardrum and we get ear pain.
I recommend the following.
1) Oral decongestant tablet levocetrizine with phenylephrine
2) Oxymetazoline nasal drops to improve ventilation of the ear. These are prescribed medications
3) When you travel next time during take off and landing suck sweets or candy's this will equalize pressure.
4) Avoid sleeping during take off and landing.
