What Causes Bleeding And Pain In The Penis After Circumcision?

default
Posted on Thu, 12 Oct 2017
Question: I am 34 years old and had circumcision 8 days back. I was advised to apple Neosporin and keep the dressing going every day. I was still having little bleeding and pain. Nurse told me to try keeping the whole penis exposed to air for a day and see. The visible part of the penis seems to have dried up and no bleeding there.

However, after shower today and drying, after an hour I felt immense itching and burning sensation on non visible (below side of penis). I tolerated that. After an hour or so I had sharp pricking sensation and little pain and discharge/oozing of slightly yellow liquid on the non visible side I.e below downside of penis. It feels little cold while the discharge. I am worried if this is any pus formation? Or is it normal.l? Please help and advise. Thanks.

Brief Answer:
There is nothing to be worried about .

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for query .You have undergone Circumcision one week back and getting
yellowish discharge from the under surface of penis (From Frenulum) .

This is normal serous discharge from the edges of the skin from the site of suturing as a tissue reaction to suture material .

There is nothing to be worried about it ,Normally it gets resolved gradually within 3-4 weeks as the healing takes place .

However I would suggest you to clean and wash the genitals with microbial solution Betadine apply Neosporin ointment and put soft gauze cloth surrounding the glans and suture line so that the wound does not come in contact with your inner wares This helps to avoid bleeding from the site of surgery caused by friction against cloths.

It takes 3-4 weeks for complete healing .Till then avoid sexual encounters .

Hope I have answered your query ,please feel free to ask if you have more questions,I shall be happy to help you
Thanks and Regards.
