Brief Answer:
Macular degeneration.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for choosing HCM for your query!

Most likely its macular deneration.Dry macular degeneration occurs because of a thinning in the tissues in the macula and a dysfunction in the light-sensitive cells. This initially produces zones of vision loss, such as a fuzzy appearance of objects and eventually blank spots over the eye's central vision. Dry acute macular degeneration causes about 90 percent of cases. Most commonly its a age related change.Complete examination of the eye should be done however to know the exact cause. The conditioned is usually managed medically by tresting the cause.
Thanks!

Thanks Dr XXXXXXX

I had my eyes checked by the local optometrist only a fortnight ago, & they used the normal machines to test pressure, the back of the eye, etc
I think they test for MD in this process, but am not sure
Do I need more specific testing by a specialist ?
Thanks

Hi again,
If possible contact a opthalmologist who has specialised in retinal detachment surgery.Basically Amsler grid test has to be done for macular generation.
Thanks!
