Posted on Mon, 21 Sep 2015
Question: Hi, I have some black colour patch with white colour border on my penis (below to Folds of shaft skin). Means when I pull my soft skin back I can see the patch. I don't have irritation, burn or any other problem. But patch size increasing day to day. I got married 3 years back and we are using condoms for family planning.
I don't know how this patch came but I am little bit tensed.

Fungal infection

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for the query and photograph.
It is looking like fungal infection.
I treat such cases with topical clotrimazole cream.
It gives good response within a month.
You can try this in consultation with your doctor.
Let me know if you have any other doubts.
Thank you.

Thanks for the response... I have few doubts..
1. Does it effect in long period, I mean will I face issue again?
2. How this happened? what is the reason?
3. Does it harmful? How serious issue this is, is it common or harmful.
4. We are planning for kid now, so how much safe I am/we both, will this effect in this case?
5. What care I should take care to cure it and avoid to not effected again.
6. It is STD? or skin disease?
7. Only topical clotrimazole cream is enough right?
8. How safe to use condoms and can I have sex or how many days you suggest to not have sex?

Sorry for many questions but I am having all these in mind.

Thanks in advance

Brief Answer:
Use combination of steroid and antifungal

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for the follow up.
If there is no response it is better to add a mild steroid for a week.
You can use a combination of clotrimazole and mometasone cream.
Both these creams can be mixed in equal quantities and applied.
Try this for a week.
The oral antifungal is fluconazole.
You can use a thicker condom along with lubricating jelly as it will reduce the friction and help in faster healing.
Thank you
