Posted on Thu, 15 Oct 2015
Question: I have had flank pain on both side for five days and also sweating in the morning and at night for the last three days. I had a urine sample taken that was negative for kidney or bladder infection. No kidney stones either, also have some nausea at times.

Brief Answer:
Bilateral Flank pains with nausea/fever? sore-throat/Under investigation

Detailed Answer:
Brief Ans-Bilateral Flank pains with nausea/fever? sore-throat/Under investigation

Probable cause to be investigated-Colitis for which further investigations are needed.

Hi,Welcome for your query to HCM.
I studied your query and the medical tests with recent sore throat history.

Based on the facts of the query,In My opinion,Prima facie-you seem to have non-renal cause for the bilateral flank pains but it needs further investigations.

Fever morning /evening with sweating and nausea/vomiting could be due to sore throat infection or / could be due to hidden Colitis.
Other cause could be muscle sprain and other causes, for Which Second Opinion after the Physical Check from Physician and if need be from Surgeon is suggested to you.

I would suggest you to consult your Physician/Surgeon doctor on the following lines-
-Get USG Abdomen
Per Rectal Examination to rule out any anal cause if need be.
Stool /ova /cyst/micro-Test,which may lead to the cause of your bilateral flank.

Your Physician and Surgeon team would investigate the case as needed after the physical examination. This would help you to come out of this problem of unknown cause of bilateral flank pains.

Flank pains with fever /with nausea at times, would need investigations and correlation to Your sore throat history ,which could explain 3 days fever?Viral.
and correlation of flank pains with nausea-to hidden Colitis, which got missed ,as you have no complaints suggesting and which needs to be investigated.

Hope this would help you to plan further treatment with your doctor.

Keep me updated after the investigations.
Welcome for any further query in this regard.
