What Causes Bad Headaches In Children?

Question: My daughter is 9 years old. She's usually a very healthy, normal child and this evening around 7:30 p.m. she has been complaining about a really bad headache. She said she's had it off and on during the day. It bothers her to look a bright light. I was wondering if she might have Meningitis. I read over these 10 symptoms of this condition and a bad headache and not being able to look at bright lights are her only complaints. She doesn't feel sick at all. No loss of appetite.

Brief Answer: I don't think she is suffering from meningitis. Detailed Answer: Hello XXXX Thanks for writing to HCM I don't think she is suffering from meningitis. Besides headache,meningitis is associated with high grade fever,neck rigidity etc. Patient having meningitis fever look very ill She need proper clinical examination by a neurologist. She may be suffering form migraine headache.Not able to look at bright light may be due to aura symptoms. You can give her tablet paracetamol 250 mg stat.It will relieve her from headache.
