Question: My husband is on a number of RX meds and recently was given Benadryl, Claritin and Tussin DM to take for sx of cold with cough and a lot of mucus. He is complaining of auditory and visual hallucinations. How can we get these OTCs out of his system the quickest?

I have reviewed your husband's treatment fully. If you had administered claritin and benadryl at the same time, that is the most likely cause of his complaints. These medications do the exact same actions and as such might have been in a way excess dosage. Nothing can be done to get the drugs out quicker than expected. While I will advise him to stop them, he should also drink much water to increase urine flow and excretion. At this time, I also advise that he avoids being very XXXXXXX as this can easily lead to falls with grave consequences. If he must walk, he should walk supported.
