What Causes Ash Looking Vomit?

Question: What is the significance,if any,of vomit that looks like wet ashes?My husband dosent have a stomach,had it removed several years ago due to weight loss surgery complications.Has been vomiting off and on since but recently has been more often.

Looking at the clinical symptoms and query, my opinion is as follows:

1. Sphincter damage of esophageal gastric junction and also gastro duodenal junction could be leading to one and off vomiting.

2. Wet ashes vomiting is possibly related to food intake. Please look into diet carefully.

3. If the vomiting is foul smelling, intestinal obstruction needs to be thought of. Otherwise, not to worry, look into diet carefully. Not to worry. If it happens again with change of diet, requires vomit examination.
