Posted on Fri, 25 Apr 2014
Question: My LAD artery is partial covered by a muscle bridge and may be causing angina . Can this problem be surgically corrected? I am currently taking norvasc to help with the problem. However I continue to have pressure present in the a effected area. I notice the pressure when I am involed in aerobic activities ie hiking on a incline. As soon as I stop the pressures ceases but reoccurs as i continue.

Brief answer....given below Detailed answer... Hello, Thanks for the query. Such type of cases where artery is overlapped by muscle is called as myocardial bridging ( MB ) In general, once diagnosed as case of MB,the treatment option is medical therapy only. In case the symptoms are not relieved by medications and the narrowing is more than 70% as revealed by coronary angiography, then the treatment offered is stenting in general but in some cases myotomy or internal mamnary graft can also be considered. You must consult a cardiologist and discuss about the proper investigations and management. I hope it helps, however you may revert to me for any further query. Best of luck Thanks
