Brief Answer:
Alopecia areata”; In improving stage

Detailed Answer:
Hello young fellow,

Welcome again thanks for posting the good resolution pictures.

After analyzing the pictures with diligence I can make out that you have the problem of “Alopecia areata”.

You can go on internet and see the pictures “Alopecia areata” for confirmation as a ready reference.
To tell you simply about your problem: Alopecia areata is a locally present transient autoimmune condition. In this condition due to formation of antibodies to the hair roots, there is temporary damage to the hair roots. Till now we are not able to find the exact cause of formation these antibodies.

These antibodies persist for few weeks to few months of period. As soon as the antibodies are getting down by self or by medications the hair growth again reverts to normal.

In your case you gave the history of alopecia areata from 6 month and presently you see mild hair growth with no new patch of hair loss. It depicts halted activity of the auto-antibodies and therefore the condition is improving by itself.

Adding to this the patch is showing activity of hair growth in center which is a very good sign in terms of hair growth and therefore is a good prognostic.

To improve the hair growth in my patients I prefer to use Desonide cream/lotion (which is one of the mildest of steroid application) to reduce the autoimmunity and minoxidil 2% lotion for fast growth.

You can visit a dermatologist near you and apprise him/her with my suggestions. Do eat a good protein and mineral with vitamin diet in form of milk products, fruits and green leafy vegetables to help and improve internally.

I hope these information's will help you. If you have further queries I will be happy to help.

Brief Answer:
Normal hair growth will appear in couple of weeks

Detailed Answer:
Hello young fellow,

Welcome again to the forum.

I am really happy to know that you are relaxed about your condition. The normal hair growth will appear in couple of weeks to up to 3 months of period. SO do not worry about the present situation which is actually a good sign of hair regrowth.

I will be glad to answer any further queries or if not then can close the discussion and rate the answer.

Brief Answer:
You can shave the area

Detailed Answer:
Hello young man,

Welcome back and thanks for follow up.

You can very well shave the area as there is no good as well as bad effect of shaving on the patch.

Shaving the area will not have any effect on the roots of hair so no bad effect on the same.

I hope these informations will help you.
