It's unlikely to be serious

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to Healthcare-Magic
Greetings of the day
Namasthe
Dear Mr XXXXXXX

I do understand your concern and apprehension regarding your father.
As his reports have not found anything abnormal, it's unlikely to be serious condition. I hope Ultrasound of abdomen along with colour doppler of mesenteric blood vessels.

I would require additional information
1. Where is the exact location of pain. Is it continuous? What is the character of pain?
2. Is there nausea/vomiting?
3. Is he passing stools regularly or is constipated?
4. Any urinary complaint?
5. Fever?
6. Is there distention of abdomen?

Constipation can also sometime present with acute pain. Enema will relieve it.

Do get back to me with the details.
Keep me updated about his progress.
Wishing him speedy recovery

Take care

pain is in upper and middle abdomen. he vomited thrice since last night. he passed normal stool one time in the midnight. no urinary complaint, no fever. doctor suspects pancreatitis so will do a scan. my father is teetotaler.

Brief Answer:
To consider pancreatitis/cholecystitis

Detailed Answer:

Dear Ms XXXXXXX

I could consider three possible causes

1. Acute Pancreatitis
2. Acid peptic disease
3. Acute Cholecystitis(inflammation of gall bladder)

Diagnosis of Pancreatitis will depend on Ultrasound and elevated lipase/amylase.
If both these reports are normal, it is better treated as acid peptic disease (Acute gastritis).

Do keep me updated

Take Care

Regards
Deepak
