What Causes Acute Constipation And Burning Sensation Near Anus?

default
Posted on Tue, 9 Dec 2014
Question: My 23 months old daughter is suffering from acute constipation for couple of months now. We have consulted a child specialist and are giving here duphalac but she is still struggling to pass stools and takes around 2 hours to finish once started. She complains of 'burning sensation' when we clean her up. Family friend with a daughter is suggesting we give here LAXOPEG (Ployethylene Glycol 3350). Please advice.

Habitual constipation

Detailed Answer:
Hi...Thank you for consulting in Health Care magic. I think your kid is having habitual constipation. I have certain questions and suggestions for you.

Questions:
1. Did your kid pass motion or meconium on day one of life?
2. Since how long is the kid constipated (if any before this 2 months)?
3. Does the kid have any bleeding along with hard stools?
4. How much milk does the kid consume per day?
5. Does the kid eat fruits and vegetables (fibre diet) appropriately?
6. is there any family history of constipation?
7. Has she lost weight in the last 2 months?

Suggestions:
1. Natural methods are the best to relieve constipation.
2. Constipation is a risk factor for UTI
3. Maximum milk consumption per day should not exceed 300-400ml
4. Minimum 3-4 cups of fruits and vegetables to be consumed per day
5. Toilet training - that is - sitting in XXXXXXX type of lavatory daily at the same time will help a lot.

Kindly get back to me with the answers to the above questions.

Hope my answer was helpful for you. I am happy to help any time. Further clarifications and consultations on Health care magic are welcome. Wish your kid good health.
