What Causes Abdominal Pain?
Question: Hi my husband has been suffering from abdominal pain on the side of his stomach and goes to his back after having beer. When he drinks he tends to have more than less e.g 6-8 mainly on the weekends. I have had a look online and it sounds like acute pancreatis?! The doctor didn't say anything of the sort just to take Nexium daily. Could nexium and not drinking any alcohol help the situation?? It only hurts when he drinks alcohol otherwise he is fine. Any advice would be appreciated

The most important point at the moment is to find the basic cause for his pain abdomen.
Although pancreatitis can cause pain in abdomen after taking alcohol,but there are various other reasons for such type of pain.
Reasons could be ....
Gastritis.
Cholecystitis
Peptic ulcer
Alcohol intolerance
And sometimes Hodgkin lymphoma can also cause pain abdomen after drinking alcohol.
Although it would be best to stop alcohol and start taking NEXPRO,but he needs to be investigated to find the exact cause behind it.
It should not be taken lightly and hence you must consult a gastroenterologist and get the investigations like ultrasound abdomen,CT or MRI abdomen,endoscopy and various relevant blood and urine tests done.
