Brief Answer:
Go to emergency room

Detailed Answer:
Hi, thank you for using Healthcare Magic. Your mother should get seen in the emergency room right away. If she is having severe abdominal and it's that tender on palpation, I am concerned that something serious like a bowel obstruction or diverticulitis could be happening. The only way to know is to get examined and get testing done. It is worrisome that she has been so ill for 2 months and seems to be getting worse. Something might have started developing during that time and has reached a critical point now. Have her seen now. Hope this answers your query. If you have further questions, I would be happy to answer them.

Brief Answer:
Recommend urgent evaluation

Detailed Answer:
It is reassuring that she had no polyps a year ago, suggesting this is not due to colon cancer. However, many other conditions can cause abdominal pain. Did they mention diverticulosis on the colonoscopy? It could be some intestinal inflammatory process. Other organs such as the spleen or kidneys may be causing a problem. With this level of pain, I think an urgent evaluation is indicated to rule out other life-threatening problems. Perhaps she has an abdominal abscess, abdominal aortic aneurysm, or internal bleeding. There is no way to know without her being seen and blood work and imaging studies done to figure out what it is. You asked for an expeditious answer about going to the hospital and that is what I am recommending. Get her evaluated now.
If you have further questions, I would be happy to answer them.
