What Causes Abdominal Pain And Swollen Lymph Nodes After A Pancreatectomy?

default
Posted on Wed, 6 Apr 2016
Question: I am 62 yr, female. Previous history of benign cyst adenoma resulting in a pancreatectomy and splenectomy. I have had enlarged supra and sub--clavicle lymph nodes for several years. No bx ever done. Doc says they're ok. Cbc usually normal. Now I have abdominal pain across my whole tummy with tender to touch. Cat scan says swollen lymph nodes across tummy and particularly by my pancreas. My lipase was elevated. My cbc showed elevated lymphocytes and monocytes, rest is normal. Doc says he does not know what the problem is.

Brief Answer:
Needs workup. Pancreatitis and ovarian masses need workup

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking
I read your question and i understand your concern. history of pancreatectomy and spleenectomy due to benign cystic adenoma followed by pain abdomen tender to touch raised lipase and leukocytes is either pancreatitis of the left over pancrease or ovarian pathology. Swollen abdominal nodes suggest sinister causes like malignancy etc.

It needs work up and management accodingly , ca 19 - 9 and ca 125 workup should be done as well. Anyhow it needs admission and workup. Its too early to comment on the likely cause before further workup.

I hope it helps. Take good care of yourself and dont forget to close the discussion please.
