What Causes Abdominal Cramps And Pain With Constipation And Diarrhea?

Question: Hi, I have been having bowel issues for about a year and a half. Lots of cramping and pain, sometimes sudden vomiting. I constantly switch between Constipation and diarrhea. Sometimes I have blood on the toilet paper. The stool is always changing colors. Any ideas?

Hi and welcome to HCM.

These symptoms are not usual for such young people and I would suggest work up that inlcudes Colonoscopy and CT scan of abdomen.

In most cases this is seen in irritable bowel syndrome which is a benign condition, but some other more serious colon inflammatory diseases my be considered especially if you have frequent blood in stool. These are for example Crohns or ulcerative colitis.

You should try to regulate your digestion with probiotics(natural probiotics include yogurt), drink more fluids and follow high fibre diet, fruit vegetables and milk products..
