Took to ex lax this am and a bottle of magnesium citrate this afternoon. 6 hours later did have a bm but the cramping is still there and it is so bad i had to go to bed and lie down. Brief Answer:
Go to the ER. It may be something that needs professional intervention.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thank you for using Healthcaremagic to post your health query.
I read carefully your question and I understand your concern.

Constipation does not give severe cramping, and the cramping that comes because of constipation gets better shortly after having a bowel movement.
Jet lag does not give abdominal pain too.

So I think the situation is not to be passed at home and you should go to the ER so you can have a physical exam and the necessary tests. You may need an X-ray of the abdomen and an ultrasound. If needed a CT scan too.
Do not take other medications at home because they mask the problem and you may think you are getting better, but if the problem is still there.
Stop taking fluids or foods, until the doctors rule out if it is diverticulitis, bowel obstruction, or else.

Hope this is helpful.
Let me know if you have other questions or concerns and feel free to follow up with me anytime.
