What Causes Abdominal Bloating, nausea And Constipation?

default
Posted on Mon, 21 Jul 2014
Question: I am really bloated and slightly nauseous every day, constipated and gasey. I had 2 heavy periods (normal for me) and a negative blood test (my obgyn said my hormone levels were normal too) for pregnancy, but I have symptoms of being pregnant. It would be approx. 8 weeks along if I am (4/29). If I am not, why is my stomach always "very" distended and I have a general sick feeling? I do take Synthroid and have ANA markers could these effect the hcg test to cause a false negative?
Or is it possible that I just have low levels of HCG which also causes me to have a period, but still be pregnant? If so, when should I go in for a re-test?

Brief Answer:
You are not pregnant.

Detailed Answer:
Hello !

I read carefully your query and understand your concern.

The hormone human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) is produced during pregnancy. It is made by cells that form the placenta.
Levels can first be detected by a blood test about 11 days after conception. In general the hCG levels will double every 72 hours. The level will reach its peak in the first 8 – 11 weeks of pregnancy .

So since you had your periods and the blood test was negative for pregnancy ,you definitely are not pregnant.

Synthroid and ANA markers don't interfere with hcg levels in blood, they don't affect the pregnancy test.

To answer your query ,No it is not possible to have periods, low levels of hcg and still being pregnant.
You don't need to re-test.You are not pregnant.

There are many possible causes for symptoms like feeling bloated, nauseous, distended stomach ,constipated, gasey) including :
-Hypothyroidism (causes constipation and bloating)
-Indigestion (gas and bloating is a sign that food is not being digested correctly)
-Diet
-Irritable bowel syndrome
-Acid reflux disease.
- Abdominal bloating is normal before you get your period.
You should eat smaller and more frequent meals, eat fruits, regular exercise
Cut down on foods known to cause wind and bloating, such as:beans, onions, broccoli, cabbage etc.
If the symptoms get worse or persist consult a physician.

Hope my answer has helped.
Let me know if you have any further question,I will be happy to help.

Take care.
