Question: every time i eat i feel bloated. i feel pressure up in me chest. it feels as if my food is right at the bottom of my throat. i've awakened in the middle of the night choking on a very acid, burning substance. I have to take a lot of zantac everyday. i get a burning sensation up in my throat. i have an infrequent cough. i burp a lot and seem to have gas during these episodes. this has been going on for years and is getting worse. i cant get through the day without zantac.

Brief Answer:
Chronic gastritis

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for the query
According to your history , you are having severe gastritis.
Instead of taking Zantac , you have start with the proton pump inhibitors like Tab Omeprazole/pantaprazole with combination of Domperidone to avoid burp/food regurgitation, So start with Tab Omez-D
As you have chronic gastritis rule out h.pylori infection by urea breath test...
If positive accordingly drug given like omeprazole plus ampicillin and clarithromycine...

Mean while avoid gastric irritants like.....
-smoking
-alcohol
-self medication
-NSAIDs (pain killers)
More gas problem that may because of more fatty food consumption.

Too fast eating and improper chewing may cause gas problem.

Stress and anxiety may aggravate a condition.
Lactose intolerance may cause excessive bloating problem.

Consent a gastroenterologist for further diagnosis.

Endoscopy/Abdominal ultra sonography is helpful for further diagnosis.

Avoid gaseous foods like cabbage, cauliflower, turnips, broccoli, carbonated drinks

Avoid spicy foods and fatty foods.

Drink more water.

Do a regular exercise.

Simethicone drug/Digene syrup/gasonil syrup help for gas relief.

Have food on time

Avoid lying on bed, immediately after food

If you have any doubt , you are welcome

Take care
