What Causes A Whooshing Noise In The Ear?

default
Posted on Tue, 30 Jun 2015
Question: For a few weeks I have noticed when I bend over or stand up I can hear a whooshing noise in my right ear only. The majority of times it is just a pretty quick noise but sometimes I can hear it in time with my pulse for a couple of seconds. I have had an MRI in the past month or so and it came back fine.

I don't hear it unless I am turning my head or bending over. Is this pulsative tinnitus? Or what else could it be? I am really anxious about it and I am worried it might be an aneurism or something like that.

I am a 25 year old male.

Please let me know the options.

Brief Answer:
Maybe due to the postural hypotension

Detailed Answer:
Hi Sir,
I have gone through your query; it suggests that tinnitus may be due to the postural hypotension. To subside these symptoms change the posture in slow motion.

But to rule out other disease and to reach the near diagnosis you may go for
1. Pure tone audiometry.
2. Impedance audiometry.
3. Routine haematological and thyroid profile.
4. Angiography if needed.

You will need to see an ENT specialist
Thanks
