What Causes A Vertical Pink Line On The Back Of The Throat?
I attached some pictures of my throat, i heard that long sore throat could be cancer !
Normal. Not cancer.
Thank you for your query.
1. The vertical pink line on the right side of the Posterior Pharyngeal Wall (PPW or back of the throat) seen in the attached images consists of hypertrophied lateral pharyngeal bands.
2. These are components of the Waldeyer's Ring of lymphoid (tonsil-like) tissue normally spread throughout the throat and oral cavity.
3. This hypertrophy causes the mild sore throat and the itchy, burning sensation. The ear pain is a referred sensation if ear examination is normal.
4. Request your doctor to add an anti-allergic medication, medicated gargles and a short course of steroids (if not contraindicated).
5. This not cancer.
I hope that I have answered your query. If you have any further questions, I will be available to answer them.
